Dr. Mark Cedar is from the Pittsburgh area, graduating from Brentwood High School in 1990. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology at Grove City College in 1994. He received his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1998. Dr. Cedar completed his residency in Internal Medicine at The Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh in 2001. From there he went on to subspecialty training at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital, Temple University Clinical Campus where he completed a clinical gastroenterology fellowship in 2004. Additionally Dr. Cedar completed training in Liver Transplantation and Hepatology at Thomas E Starzl Transplantation Institute, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2003.

Dr. Cedar serves as the Chief of Gastroenterology and Director of the GI lab at St. Clair Hospital in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. He is American Board of Internal Medicine certified in both Internal medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Pennsylvania Society of Gastroenterology, Pennsylvania Medical Society and Allegheny County Medical Society. Dr. Cedar is an active medical staff member at UPMC/Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh, St. Clair Hospital and South Hills Endoscopy Center.

Dr. Cedar's clinical interests include diagnosis and treatment of pancreas, liver and biliary tract disorders, esophageal and colon disorders, as well as screening colonoscopy. He also performs diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP's and advanced therapeutic endoscopy procedures including stenting of esophageal, enteral, colon and bile duct strictures and tumors. He is very active in giving medical lectures in the communities as well as to physicians and nurses at the local hospitals.

Dr. Cedar lives in the South Hills with his wife, Dr. Maria Cirillo, and two children. In his spare time he enjoys golfing, skiing and fishing but most of all spending time with his family.
